IT SEEMS TO BE SO MUCH EASIER TO HAVE COMPASSION FOR OTHERS THAN FOR OUR OWN SELVES. AND YET WITHOUT SELF-COMPASSION WE SIT IN SELF-REPRIMAND THAT HOLDS US BACK FROM SELF-GROWTH.

Why are we so much easier on others and so hard on ourselves? Why is self-compassion so important?

Have you ever noticed how hard it is to make a mistake? We so often want to get things perfect right off the bat. There is nothing wrong with striving for excellence. However, there is a lot that does not work when we lack self-compassion. In fact, our self-esteem can suffer. Mistakes are part of learning, even a valuable part of growth. Self-compassion allows us to be human and to see others as human, as well. We are equally beautiful in our imperfections as we are in our perfections. Our wrinkles and lines tell incredible stories of our lives.

Self-compassion is the beginning of believing kinder things about ourselves, allowing a growth mindset, and celebrating our humanity, ALL of it.
